We have been working these rivers since 1982. Most of what follows is what we end up explaining on the phone anyway, so we have written it down.
The Broads is a working landscape. It only stays navigable, and the banks only stay where they are, because a lot of people quietly maintain it: the landowners, the Authority, the Environment Agency, the boatyards, the ecologists and the trades.
If you have just taken on a stretch of riverbank, you have joined that list, probably without being told. These guides are here to explain what that actually involves.
None of this is a sales pitch. If you read a guide, work out what you need and go and do it yourself or use someone else, that is a good outcome.
